Next Saturday is a food crawl!
What's a food crawl???
It's when we meet next Saturday at The Way at 7.30pm aand then go to somebodies house for soup, then we go to another house for more food, and finish at the Falkoners (for year 9-11s) where you will be picked up by your Parents at 9.30pm.
If you are year 12 and above, you will need to watch his space to find out where you will end up!
Yet again this is an amazing opportunity to bring some friends along, eat food, and have a laugh (not at your friends)
Tickets cost £1.50 from Pete or Mark.
You can buy them today!

What's a Board Game Race?

Well it's a bit like a super slow motion non violent version of Duck Duck Goose with board games!
We will have the Wii, Table Footy, Pool Table, and Air Hockey out. And the idea is that we have to play as many games as we can, as fast as we can, so that we end up in the same place as we started!

Extreme Bible Reading Challenge!

Since last summer I've been trying to find some decent Bible reading notes for my small group.
Some of the notes were aimed too young for my group, some were too old and unlike Goldilocks i couldn't find anything just right.
Brace yourselves, big idea alert!
So instead we are going to do a Bible reading Challenge!
We are going to attempt (without the aid of a safety net, trick photography, or anything else) to read the entire New Testament in 2008 (those in my small group are now thinking "oh yeah i remember!")
Oh and how are we going to do that then?
We will do this by reading a chapter or a few verses of the New Testament each day. If we all know that everyone else in the group is doing it, then it should encourage us to keep going!
But then i thought " Why just our small group? Why not see if anyone else in Frontline wants to join in?
Failed already!
Now some of you may have already noticed that it's January 1st! And if you are in my small group you are probably thinking " where's the plan'? and " i forgot all about this!". Well don't worry, scroll down the page a bit!
And i'm sorry i didn't get to give you the sheet with all the readings on at the weekend.

Anyway if you want to join in our Bible Reading challenge this year, please leave your name in the comments ( you have to click on "news", then click the top post, then comments at the end of the post,) and i will give you a sheet with all January's readings on at the weekend.
But in the meantime here are the chapters we are reading until Saturday when i will give you the sheet for January (don't worry it'll all make sense at the weekend!)

This Saturday November 3rd we are going to London for the Sorted event and Fireworks afterwards.
There are some things you will need.

£10 This includes the £6 for Sorted and train fare.
A Bible, notebook, and pen.
A pack lunch and tea, or extra money for food if you just want buy something.
Warm clothes, as we will be standing around outside in the evening saying "oooh"a lot (at fireworks) and you can get quite cold doing that!

Here's the tough part!

We will be meeting at the church @ 7.45 am!
Yes 7.45 am does exist on a Saturday and you need to be at church at that time because we are leaving at 8am!
We will arrive back at Church at around 10.30pm.
If you haven't been to Sorted before, it's really, really, good!

At ID tonight we will be watching England v France in the Rugby World Cup!
There will be all the usual stuff like Table Tennis, Table Footy, Tuck Shop, Bean Bags, Volleyball,etc, but we will have the Rugby on the TV in the front bar.
This is yet another good opportunity to bring friends and have some fun while we watch the Rugby!

Chloe's Cross of St George postcard won the Boring Postcard competition!
It was a close run thing with Chloe and Jack both getting 6 votes. But after an ooh vote and a show of hands, Chloe was victorious!
She won a very old (1960's) postcard showing Quadrant in Dunstable with the old clock!
You never know in a few years time it might be worth something!

What a weekend!

A week ago Frontline went away to Phasels Wood to "Camp Love".
I thought it would be good to ask people to text me just one thing that they learnt from the weekend.
So here are a few of them!

God is Love
The song "me ma me me me me!"
We're nothing if we do not have love
Men don't understand women!
Love is God because Love never fails.
It's wrong to lead people up the garden path (flirting)
Gods love for us is so great that it overflows from us to others

Love is so much more than just caring about someone but rather giving yourself wholeheartedly to people no matter what, and how it might not suit you. It's about getting dirty and putting yourself out for others and not expecting a reward.... What an amazing challenge, but because we have God living in us we CAN love. He CAN love so we can too! Wonderful!

Not only did we learn loads from the Bible about Love, we put tents up in the dark, went Ice Skating, watched the Rugby, wandered into town, played Sorry, went for a walk in the dark, lost wallets, played sardines in the woods in the dark, had a bonfire, stayed up really late, and loads more......
Twas a very very good weekend!

I've been starting work at 6am everyday this week and if you hadn't already noticed...it's suddenly turned quite cold first thing in the morning!
So if you're going on the Frontline weekend away you really do need to bring some warm clothes with you!

Do you want to go on the Frontline Weekend away on 21st -23rd September to Phasels Wood near Kings Langley?

The cost of the weekend will be £22 which includes a trip to Macdonald's on the way home!
Things you need to bring for the weekend are......

Warm Clothes (it gets cold at night camping this time of year)

We will meet at Church at 5.45pm on Friday 21st September to leave at 6pm prompt!
On the way home those who live in the Dunstable area will be dropped off at their homes.

There was an urban legend that somebody tied lots of helium balloons to a garden chair so he could float round to his mates BBQ in style!
He apparently got to 30,000 feet )which is the same height jumbo jets fly at) and flew hundreds of miles off course!
I think they even tried it on Mythbusters once as well.
Anyway somebodies actually done it in real life!
He flew 193 miles,had GPS, a two way radio, a camcorder, instruments to measure his height and airspeed and his mobile phone.
He also got caught and fined a lot of money!

It was a bit boring last night after the service, there was nothing much to do!
So from next Sunday, depending on the weather, shall we have random after churches?
We could wander up Blows Downs or Dunstable Downs or just chill at church or in The Way if it's raining (and somebody has a key!)
We will still finish by 9.30 and be at a pick up point if you are being collected but it will still be fun to do something on a Sunday Evening!

It's the Summer holidays!
So lets have a boring postcard competition!
The idea is simple.
While you are on holiday, look for the most boring postcard you can find and post it to my home address.

Rules

It has to be a picture postcard. Plain white cards do not count!
What you write doesn't matter. "Hi Mark I'm really bored so i thought i would send you a postcard" doesn't count, the picture does!
You can send as many picture postcards as you like as long as they are boring!
End date for the competition is 31st August. Any postcards received after that date will be shredded!

In September i will post all the entries here and then You can vote for the most boringest postcard of all

Having just swallowed yet another huge fly while cycling (it flew right to the back of my throat and it wasn't pleasant) I'm glad i didn't catch one of these!

This is the Asian Giant Hornet commonly known as the Yak killer Hornet!
It lives in Temperate and Tropical Eastern Asia (so we don't have to worry about it!) and it's Big!

There are a few interesting things about its sting and venom.

The venom has contains at least 8 different chemicals. Some cause pain, some cause damage to tissue (not Kleenex but you!) and at least one of these chemicals emits a smell which attracts other hornets to its victim!
The venom contains 5% Acetylcholine (stuff that stimulates pain nerve fibers) and this 5% is a greater concentration than Wasp or Bee stings. (which in English means if one of these beasties stings you, it hurts a whole lot more than a bee!)
Like all Hornets, this one has a barbless stinger which means if he's in a particularly bad mood, he can keep stinging and stinging and stinging you!

If you do see one of these it's perfectly acceptable to run away screaming like a Girl! (and if you're a Girl, you can scream like a Boy screaming like a Girl!)

The weather forecast for Saturday is actually quite good!
So we will hopefully have a wide game on Tottenhoe Knolls!
Meet at the church at 7.30pm, we will go to Tottenhoe Knolls in cars, play a wide game or two, and after a drinks break walk back home!
This is yet another opportunity to bring friends, have fun, and drag each other through a hedge backwards!

This Saturday (weather permitting) we shall be having a wide game!
Meet at the Church at 7.30pm and we will be back at 9.30.
This is yet another opportunity to bring friends, be neighbours, and then drag them through a hedge backwards!
Don't wear your best clothes or heels or anything like that (lads) as things could be a bit muddy!
If it's just too wet, then we will probably do something in Church.
We could watch a film on the big screen, or play sardines, or just chill and play Volleyball, Table tennis, dead lions, ect!
We shall see......

It's ID time again and this week will be a chill evening!
This is yet another great opportunity to bring friends and be neighbours to people you don't know!
There will be the usual Table Tennis, Table Footy, Pool, Tuck Shop, Bean Bags, Volleyball, have i missed anything?
Anyway we may also play a big group game.
The one that Enfield showed us when we last had Merge was good. You know the one where everybody had to sit to the left (or was it right) of Jonty.
But it's your evening for you to bring some friends so what game would you like us to play and how do you play it?

At ID on Saturday we split into 5 groups and went around Dunstable taking photo's.
What is the building, and where were we when we took the photo?
We also took "Band Shots" of each group! We had to pretend to be a fake band and take a photo for an album cover!

ID this Saturday

This week for ID we are going to meet at The Way and then split into groups and go for a wander with digital cameras! The idea is to take photo's of your group somewhere in Dunstable (kind of like the where was i photo's i've been posting).
You could just take a group photo, or pretend you are a band (give your band a name and so on) doing a photo for an album cover!
I was in a fake band once. It was good, i didn't have to do a thing except stand around and look bored!
Anyway after taking some photo's we will then wander over to Bennets Rec for a game or two, and then go back to The Way for the talk and biscuits or something. And while we are chilling we can take a look at everyones photo's using the video projector!
This is yet another good opportunity to bring friends and be neighbours!

Keep Fit and Kick about!

Every Monday evening during the summer there will be a keep fit n kick about at 8pm. This will take place on the field behind the Tennis club in downs road. it's the field behind the Kenworthy's,
or here if you're not too sure where that is.
This is open to anyone from Dunstable who wants to come along so it's a good opportunity to bring your friends, invite people from ID to, and stuff like that!
So come along tomorrow and invite your mates!

But after a flurry of votes we had a winner!

This weekend nothing is happening!
Not a sausage!
It's Half Term and so there is no Frontline at all on Saturday or Sunday.
That doesn't mean you can't organise something amongst yourselves like go watch a film or something. It just means that there will be no leaders around as we will be having a half term break as well.
Sorry!
But if you do happen to decide to do something you can invite us leaders along as some of us might not be doing much!
Anyway have a nice rest of half term. Don't forget to have a break from revising (Saturday evening perhaps) and don't forget to vote for the domain name!

It's ID this week and weather permitting we shall go to Benetts Rec and play Rounders, Football, Volleyball keepy uppies and things like that.

Don't forget that the most important part of the evening is the talk, the small groups afterwards, and just chatting to your friends and answering questions!

Saturday evening was a chill evening!
We had Table Tennis and other stuff downstairs.

The table foortball was out, but not used (something to do with no footballs)

Inside we had Wii Boxing on the big screen which was really good fun! We found that some of the Girls are much better at Wii Boxing than the boys! As some of the lads were a little embarrassed to be beaten by a girl i thought it would be better not to name the people that were humiliated and pummeled into the ground! ( isn't that right John Wildsmith, Matthew Freeman,Byron, and Michael Smith)

And we also had very small people playing Volleyball most of the night!

It was also a great opportunity to bring friends and be a neighbour and it looked like our friends and neighbours had great fun!

I.D Talk (Jon) – 12^th May 2007

Romans 1: 16-23

“Since the creation of the world” we have been able to clearly see “God’s invisible qualities” (Vs. 20). From looking at the world around us we can see things about God and his character. We can tell that he is powerful and creative. From our reliance on nature we can see he is an all-providing God, and by observing ourselves we can see his designs for us and our relationships with each other; he is a relational God.

What should we do? Our response should be to praise God for his provision and worship his majesty, and yet verse 21 tells us that we “neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him”. Not only do we not afford God the praise he deserves for all he has given us, we actually direct the praise for all we have to “images made to look like mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles.” This world provides so many temptations for us to idolise success, money, our image, sport, earthly relationships and so many other things. When we do this it is like we are slamming the door in God’s face after he has just given us an amazing present.

God is right to be angry at such “godlessness and wickedness of men” and yet the story doesn’t end there; God has provided a way for us to be friends with him once again!!

Sunday Tea!

Yep it's our Frontline Sunday Study Tea this Sunday!
We are looking at Titus 1 v 5-9 this week so it might be a good idea to read chapter one.
In fact you can read the whole book in 5 minutes, try it!
We can learn a lot of things from Titus and some of it is very challenging especially if you're a leader!
So to sum up.......
Sunday Study Tea 5 pm in The Way
Quick homework before you arrive.
Read chapter one, or even the whole book.
It doesn't take five minutes!

Invite your neighbour to a whole pizza fun!

From what we learned on Saturday night you should know who your Neighbours are! (big clue, they aren't Australian!) If you weren't there on Saturday and haven't a clue what I'm on about, ask somebody who was!
It was very challenging!
Anyway for ID next Saturday we are having a Pizza night! We will have the dough (not money!) and you should bring your favourite pizza topping and a friend! (topping goes on the pizza not the friend)
If you have a leaflet don't forget to mention the most important part of the evening which is the short talk which is Why is God so Angry?
While Pete and Margret were saying about the Pizza evening, I thought of a couple of nice, dead simple, non scary questions you could ask somebody you don't know next Saturday.
What's in your pizza?

What's the worst pizza topping you could possibly have in the world?
So this week your kinda homework is to ask God who at school or college you could invite and then go and do it.
Everybody likes food!

Almost every week us leaders get asked what's happening next week.
So i thought it might be an idea to try an electronic noticeboard.
Hopefully you will not only get to know what's going on next week, but see photo's from the weekend just gone.
Every Saturday night we will have a different official Frontline photographer who will take photo's using my camera. I will then upload the best ones each week and we could even have a caption competition.
You can use the comments at the bottom of each post to give feedback of the weekend. Write down what you liked, didn't like, suggestions, and most importantly what you learned from the Bible.
I may even ask somebody to write down what the study/talk was about each week (different person each week and get the older ones to do it!)
Thats just a few ideas so far anyway!
